Caps Lock is such a useless - and at times annoying - key with such a prominent position that it just begs for a remap. If you happen to be a vim user, like I recently became, it’s just the perfect place for an escape key.

It’s pretty easy to do with a little utility called Seil. First we need to deactivate the the Caps Lock. In the System Preferences under Keyboard you click on Modifier Keys in the bottom right and set Caps Lock Key to No Action.

Keyboard Preferences

Having Seil installed and running we select the box next to Change Caps Lock and set the code to 53 for the escape key.

And that’s it!
